Get ready for a fantastic day of fun and fitness at the fifth annual Friends and Zoey's Zoo Fun Run taking place on Sunday, September 13, 2026, in the beautiful Edmonton Valley Zoo in Alberta! This exciting event not only encourages participants of all ages to get moving with distances of 1 km, 2 km, 5 km, and 10 km, but it also supports a great cause. Last year, the run helped raise vital funds to adopt exhibits for the Harbour Seal, Golden Lion Tamarin, and Goeldi's Monkey, as well as to support the redevelopment of the carnivore project.
Whether you're a local or joining in virtually from anywhere, this family-friendly event is designed for everyone to enjoy. Virtual participants can choose to run 1 km, 2 km, 5 km, or 10 km and will receive a custom-designed finisher gift delivered right to their door. Make sure to mark your calendars for packet pick-up on Saturday, September 12, from 12-3 pm at the South Edmonton Common Running Room, and on race day from 12:30-1:00 pm at the Edmonton Valley Zoo. Organiser's Description
This is the fifth annual Friends and Zoey's Zoo Fun Run which raises funds to support the Valley Zoo Development Society. Last year, this family friendly run raised funds to adopt the Harbour Seal, Golden Lion Tamarin and Goeldi's Monkey exhibits, as while as supporting the carnivore project at the Edmonton Valley Zoo. Adopting an exhibit provides funds for improved habitats and enrichment materials and sponsoring the carnivore project supports the redevelopment of carnivore alley. The run will start and end in the Edmonton Valley Zoo amphitheater! This run has a distance for the whole family to enjoy and features a 1km, 2 km, 5 km and 10 km route. Not in Edmonton, but still want to participate? We also have a Virtual option - your choice to run 1, 2, 5 & 10 km.
