"Hill of a Race" (HOAR) is an event unlike anything seen in the Edmonton area. When was the last time you powered your way up a groomed ski hill in your runners? Held on the groomed slopes of the Rabbit Hill Snow Resort, there will not be any skiers or snowboarders on the hill with you during the race. But it will be a challenging and exciting time for all levels of snow runners, walkers, crawlers and sliders. Three distances will be offered, each with a different start time:9:00am - All Day Buffet" (6 hours): complete as many laps as you can in six hours of the approx. 2.5km course up, down and around the ski slopes12 noon - “A la Carte" (10 km): complete four laps of the approx. 2.5km course up, down and around the ski slopes1pm - "The Snack" (5km): two laps of the approx. 2.5km course up, down and around the ski slopes
You will be making your way up and down groomed ski runs so extra traction under your runners may be required. Walking poles are permitted. As with all the races in the River's Edge Running Series, this event raises much needed funds for Olive Tree Projects which operates a maternity centre in Jacmel, Haiti. Olive Tree Projects was founded in 2008 by Sarah Wallace who worked for many years at Rabbit Hill Snow Resort while a student. All proceeds from this event will go to this wonderful charity.
