An Unfinished Promise. A Future We Carry Together.
In 1950, more than 26,000 Canadians crossed an ocean because a promise had been made: that peace should not be abandoned on the other side of the world. At Kapyong, roughly 700 Canadian soldiers held their position through two days of fighting, helping protect Seoul and the future of a nation.
The Korean War ended with an armistice, but not a peace treaty. The Korean Peninsula remains divided.
Twenty-one years into the Toronto Peace Marathon, Koreans and non-Koreans, veteransβ families and newcomers continue to gather for the same purposeβnot simply to look back at history, but to carry its unfinished promise forward.
No finish line at Sunnybrook Park can reunite a peninsula. But every person who runs or walks it is part of something bigger: a community choosing to remember, choosing unity, and choosing peace.
Twenty-one years running. One unfinished promise. One future we carry forwardβtogether.
