With two distances to choose from, including a 1km fun run for children under 12, this event is perfect for all ages and abilities. The 5km run kicks off at 10:15 AM, while the 1km race starts promptly at 10:00 AM. Participants can expect a stunning route through the park, and with each registration, you'll not only receive a finishers medal and a limited edition t-shirt but also contribute to a worthy cause—this year’s proceeds will support BOOTS ON THE GROUND (Ontario), specifically their therapist fund. Gather your friends to form a team of five for the Guardian Cup Challenge and enjoy the friendly competition! Organiser's Description

This is a timed 5KM run to honour and support First Responders and Frontline Workers in our community (meaning anyone who supports/helps others such as but not limited to; police, fire, paramedics, corrections, CBSA, dispatch/telecommunications, military/veterans, social workers, CYCPs, nurses, doctors, tow truck drivers, child protection workers, PSWs and many many more. If you are not a first responder or frontline worker, this event is still for you! This is an opportunity to come out and connect with those in the community who spend their life helping others. This race will take place in Canatara Park (starting and ending at the Terry Fox loop) with a scenic run through. Proceeds from this run will go to charity, and this year another charity that directly supports first responders and frontline workers has been chosen! BOOTS ON THE GROUND (Ontario) (specifically their therapist fund) is the chosen charity for the 2025 proceeds.There are two distances (5 KM and 1 KM). Don't want to run? That's no problem, you are more than welcome to walk. Service animals and dogs are more than welcome to join along!This year we have an exciting category for teams! Teams of 5 are able to register to compete to win the Guardian Cup Challenge. This is a fun way to get out, get moving, raise money for charity and most importantly continue the conversations about mental health and wellness. Combined run totals for each team member will be tallied together and the team with the lowest combined time will win the cup, sweet prizes and bragging rights. *Please note you do not need to be a first responder/frontline worker to submit a team. Teams can be composed of any age and ability (furry friends are welcome to join too!). *Teams of 5 save $5 per person on registration.
