About the Event This is the course that you have been waiting for to send your training into the right mode. Battle of Hillotes 13.1, 10k and 5k 2024
For this race we thought:โ€œWhy not bring you to the hills and do it as a group? Weโ€™ll have one nice day of hills for breakfast, with a huge party afterwards.โ€
The race takes place on the outskirts of northwestern San Antonio, in a little burg called Helotes (the Spanish word for โ€˜corn ear,โ€™ or โ€˜corn-on-the-cobโ€™). Because Helotes lies at the beginning of the Texas Hill Country, runners affectionately nicknamed it โ€œHillotes.โ€ Many runners train on the townโ€™s hills.
We consider this event as THE event. Itโ€™s designed to acclimate yourself, for when you do run a hilly race. Training is fun and prepares you for your target events. But, you have to know exactly what to do on race day. So, this event is where youโ€™ll test yourself. Itโ€™s your chance to check your gear, gauge your heart rate, your stamina, your brainโ€”everything that will help your racing go smoothly. We also want you to learn all the procedures within the race: where to check in, where to put your race number, where to get your racing chip and where to properly place it. We can help you if you need it. Thatโ€™s what these races are designed to do.Welcome to The Battle of Hillotes.
Good Luck!
About the Challenge Come for the race, stay for the party! As you know, our goal with the Alamo Beer Challenge is to help you test if you are on track to cross the finish line of the San Antonio Rock and Roll Marathon or the BCS Marathon. HOWEVER, you've probably been with us long enough or at least heard that we want you to have fun getting there also, so we will have food and beer at each race. So after the run, not only can you enjoy knowing that you are getting closer to your goal of a great marathon season, but you get to meet some other great and wild people along the way.
All ages welcome, just be ready for some major inclines!
Fees - StandardHalf Marathon $9910k $505k $40

Some things to consider:If you are a walker, make sure you check in at the timing table and tell them you are walking the entire race, and you are not running even on step, this puts you in a different category. If you finish make sure your time matching what your watch says and that your name is spelled correctly and your gender is correct and you are in the right age category. If you do not finish do not leave until you tell the timing people, because we do not leave until all runners are finished, we will have to go look for you.Donโ€™t run with someone elseโ€™s number.Wear your number on the front of your shorts and do not bend the number as it has your chip embedded into the bib.We want you to have fun and here are a few things that might help. Show up with plenty of time to get your bib, go to the bathroom and get in line before the start of your race.Invite family and or friends and ask them if they would like to volunteer while you run.
Being a volunteer for a couple of hours is an enjoyable thing, we promise they will love it.Bring a change of clothes and leave them in your car so you can get out of sweaty clothes and come back to the awards ceremony.
Each race has it's own fun design on the ever loved super soft tri-blend race shirt. (unisex)

We continue to have non-profits involved and you will be able to donate to their cause when signing up.
Virtual runnersWe offer the opportunity to run on your own but still sign up for the race. Life happens and sometimes even at the last minute you canโ€™t make it to the race. You can switch to virtual we prefer if you do that on the Thursday before the race. The reason is that we assign bib numbers on Thursday before the race at noon. After noon it becomes hard for us to make changes and several people have to get involved. You may be charged more to switch to virtual after Thursday before each race.
If you are a virtual runners we do not put a limit on when you have to run. If you are injured it might be a few weeks before you can run that distance do not stress out. Do it when you can. We do have a virtual tab on our website click there and follow the instructions. If you want your packet mailed there will be a charge to mail your packet and this charge will be determined as we get closer to the event. Presently it is $12 per packet.
All of these things are here to help. We still love you, we just want you to have fun.
Questions [email protected] will get you answers.
