3rd Annual 5K Run/Walk for Life

The Family Life Center will be hosting its 3rd Annual 5K Run/Walk for Life! Please help us make this race a huge success and allow us to continue to provide education, parenting classes, ultrasounds and help to young families in the area.

Thursday, April 20, 2023 – Packet Pickup from 2:00pm – 5:00pm at Family Life Center, 605 Eden Ave, Effingham, IL
Saturday, April 22, 20237:45 – 8:45 am:  Late Registration and Packet Pick Up9:00 am: 5K Run/Walk Start11:00 am: Awards for 1st place in each age group will be awarded
Registration Fees:
5K- $25 per person or $75/family of 5
       *Race shirt not included after April 6th – small quantities available for purchase on race day            
Registration includes race entry, T-shirt*, packet, bib, and timed chip. Rain or shine, no refunds.**Registration is available on race day. T-shirts will be available in small quantities and can be purchased separately on race day.
Race Day FAQ
Virtual Races:  We are offering a Virtual 5K to those that would rather not be at an event.  Your bib, shirt and packet will be mailed to you.
Race Packet Pick-up:  Packet pick-up will be located at Family Life Center, 605 Eden Ave, Effingham, IL 62401 on Thursday: 2pm - 5pm   At the EPC, 1325 Outer Belt W, Effingham, IL 62401 on  Saturday: 7:45am - 8:45am
*EPC will be available for restrooms only.*
Course:  The 5K Run/Walk for Life starts at EPC, continues through the Trek Trail (paved), and return to the EPC. The course does have some hills and flat portions with beautiful scenery. Please be advised that portions of the course will remain open to traffic.  
Timing: Bib timing will be provided by Kinetic Timing.  You must pick up your official race bib at the designated packet pick-up time.  Please attach the official bib to the front of your shirt prior to the race.  If you do not have a bib, you will not be timed.    
Race Number:  Pin your race number/bib to the front of your shirt, plainly and visibly to race officials, drivers, photographers and spectators.  All participants must wear an official race number/bib.
Health and Safety:  Drink fluids before, during and after the race.  Stay hydrated!  There will be a water station along the course with bottled water available. Traffic control will be provided by FLC volunteers and the Effingham Police Dept.  However, please be advised that although volunteers along the course will deter traffic to the best of their ability, safety is ultimately your own responsibility.  Watch for traffic! 
First Aid Stations:  First aid will be provided by Family Life Center.  
Awards: Awards will be given to the top male and female finishers in each age group and must be claimed at the event. The age groups are as follows:
Under 2020 - 3536 - 5051 - 6566 and Over

Parking:  Free parking is available in the South East Parking Lot of the EPC. Signs will be posted.
