This beloved New Year's Eve tradition invites runners and walkers of all ages to participate in a scenic 4-mile USATF certified course around the picturesque Reeds Lake. The main race kicks off at 2:00 PM, starting near East Grand Rapids Middle School and finishing in front of Collins Park, while a special kids race for ages 12 and under will take place at 1:30 PM, featuring its own unique course and disco-ball medals.
Since its inception in 1982, the Resolution Run has evolved into a vibrant celebration of community spirit, personal achievements, and fresh beginnings. Last year saw over 700 participants embracing the chilly weather, and this year promises to be just as memorable! Join us in honoring the legacy of Joe O'Brien by supporting Guiding Light Works and making a difference in the community. December 31 marks the 43rd Annual Reeds Lake Resolution Runa New Years Eve tradition in East Grand Rapids. This 4-mile course around Reeds Lake is now USATF certified, giving runners and walkers a fast, accurate loop to close out 2025.
Weve shifted the main race to 2:00 PM, starting near East Grand Rapids Middle School and finishing in front of Collins Park.
New this year: a kids race at 1:30 PM for ages 12 and under, with their own special course and disco-ball medals at the finish.
Since 1982, when Joe OBrien first gathered runners for this end-of-year tradition, the Resolution Run has been more than a race. Its a celebration of community, personal goals, and new beginnings. Last year, over 700 participants braved the cold. This year, well do it againand keep Joes legacy of giving back by supporting Guiding Light Works.
