This exciting virtual run invites participants of all backgrounds to come together in support of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and their vital role in nurturing STEM education. Participants can join in the fun by completing a signature 5K race, whether you choose to run solo, with a friend, or as part of a team.
The event kicks off with onsite packet pickup at 7:30 AM, followed by a warm welcome program at 8:00 AM and the race start at 8:30 AM. Don't miss the award ceremony and scholarship presentation, tentatively scheduled for 9:45 AM, where we celebrate the achievements of HBCU STEM students. By participating in this inspiring run, you'll be contributing to scholarships and career resources that empower the next generation of STEM leaders. Plus, commemorative medals will be available as an add-on for all finishers, and feel free to bring your furry friends and strollers along for the ride! Organiser's Description
Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) are an oasis of cultural significance, both past and present, and are leading sources for black graduates. However, the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) are still lacking proper representation of minority groups, including women. The HBCU STEM Education Run (STEMER) is a virtual run that strives to raise funds and awareness through fitness. Each year, funds are dedicated to an HBCU. Our signature 5K supports our mission to "Educate, Empower, and Elevate HBCU STEM Students through Scholarships and Career Resources".
Race alone, with a friend, or with a team. Whether you are an HBCU alum/student, STEM graduate, or just passionate about education, this run is for you! Come join the virtual or in Huntsville, AL to support STEM education at these crucial institutions.
