This inspiring virtual run celebrates the cultural significance of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) while promoting greater representation in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Participants can choose to run a signature 5K, either solo, with a friend, or as part of a team, all while raising vital funds and awareness for HBCU STEM students.
The event kicks off with onsite packet pickup at 7:30 AM, followed by a pre-race welcome program at 8:00 AM, and the race starts at 8:30 AM. After the run, don’t miss the award ceremony and scholarship presentation at approximately 9:45 AM. With a USATF certified course and the option to earn a commemorative medal, this event is perfect for HBCU alumni, students, and anyone passionate about education and empowerment. Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) are an oasis of cultural significance, both past and present, and are leading sources for black graduates. However, the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) are still lacking proper representation of minority groups, including women. The HBCU STEM Education Run (STEMER) is a virtual run that strives to raise funds and awareness through fitness. Each year, funds are dedicated to an HBCU. Our signature 5K supports our mission to "Educate, Empower, and Elevate HBCU STEM Students through Scholarships and Career Resources".
