Annual Labor Day Waffle House 5k & 10K Run!
Join us for the beloved Waffle House 10K Plus Run, an Albemarle tradition since 2008! Whether you're taking on the full 10K Plus or sticking to the 5K, there's a route for everyone:
Routes:
10K Plus: Run from Waffle House to Enterprise Rent A Car (formerly Waffle House) at the end of the NE Connector. Its 3.4 miles down and 3.4 miles back, totaling 6.8 miles.
5K: Turn around at the second traffic circle (Ridge St) and head back to the Waffle House.
Change in Water Stop Location! The new water stop location will be at the second roundabout, roughly 1.5 miles into the run. 10K runners, be sure to grab water on your way out and back!
Post-Run Breakfast: The Waffle House team will be ready to serve you breakfast after the run. Stick around and enjoy a meal with fellow runners!
Safety First: Remember to run against traffic and stay on the shoulder of the road.
Shirts: To guarantee a shirt on race day, register before 8/29! If you register after that date, your shirt will be printed within a few days post-race and available for pickup.
History: This free event started in the fall of 2008 with Sharon Davis, Sharon Dunstin, Jay Eckman, Nehemiah Parah, John Bates, Gwen Lanning, and Peter Asciutto running from one Waffle House to another. Over the years, it's become one of Albemarle's most popular runs, attracting 40-100 runners each year.
Start & Finish: The course begins at the Waffle House on the corner of Highway 52 and the NE Connector and follows the Connector to the now closed Waffle House (now Enterprise Car Rental) on Highway 740 and back.
