Backroads for Benefield

31 or 62 mile ride to benefit Dr. Scott Benefield and family. Dr. B was struck in a hit and run accident during a morning ride on August 23rd 2023. Dr. Benefield is a pediatrician and father to 7 children. He along with his wife, Samantha and entire family are involved in the local community and their church where Dr. B regularly takes on leadership roles. He organized the yearly 5K fundraiser for the church and was an avid runner. Dr. B was new to the cycling community but had a real passion for the sport. He suffered a traumatic brain injury, as well as numerous fractures and lacerations. Since the accident he has been hospitalized in Nashville, and is now awaiting admittance to Shirley Ryan Ability Lab in Chicago to continue rehabilitation.
