The 10K race kicks off at 8:00 AM with a special start time for hand-cycle and pushrim participants at 7:50 AM. Following that, the 5K Fun Run/Walk will begin at 8:20 AM, allowing everyone to join in on the fun.
This family-friendly event encourages participants of all ages and abilities to come out and enjoy a day of health, community, and celebration. Whether you're a seasoned runner or just looking for a fun day out, you can participate in the signature "Centipede" contest by running in costume! THE 49TH RUNNING OF THE BAYOU CITY CLASSIC 10K, TEXAS' OLDEST 10K RACE, WILL TAKE PLACE ON SATURDAY, MARCH 7, 2026 AT 8AM (HAND-CYCLE/PUSHRIM START IS 7:50AM). THE 5K FUN RUN/WALK WILL START AT 8:20AM (HAND-CYCLE/PUSHRIM START IS 8:15AM).
THE EVENT TAKES PLACE IN THE HEART OF DOWNTOWN HOUSTON (HERMANN SQUARE ADJACENT TO CITY HALL). THIS IS A FAMILY-FRIENDLY, ALL-INCLUSIVE EVENT. WE INVITE EVERYONE TO PARTICIPATE. Proceeds from the Bayou City Classic are donated to the Houston Parks & Recreation Department to improve our city parks and preserve our trees. This non-profit event is organized by the HOUSTON AREA ROAD RUNNERS ASSOCIATION (HARRA [https://harra.org/]), an all volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to promote running as a competitive sport and a healthful exercise. The race has donated over $250,000 for the Parks over the previous eight years!
