Get ready for an exhilarating day of racing at the Boggy Draw Bear Chase, taking place on Friday, September 25, 2026, in the scenic town of Dolores, Montezuma County, Colorado. This exciting event features competitive races for both middle school and high school athletes, with distances of 3 kilometers for middle schoolers and 5 kilometers for the high school competitors.
Participants can look forward to a well-organized schedule, starting with course walks at 7:30 AM, followed by the middle school girls' race at 9:00 AM, middle school boys at 9:30 AM, and high school races at 10:00 AM for girls and 10:30 AM for boys. Awards will be presented at 11:00 AM, recognizing the top finishers in each category. With a dirt course that adds a thrilling challenge, racers will tackle hills named and marked for easy navigation. Spectators and teams are encouraged to arrive early to secure parking, with plenty of options available at the Boggy Draw Trailhead. From HWY 145, turn onto 11th St. (at Basecamp gas station), continue up Dunlap Hill (overlooking
Dolores Schools), turn right on Rd W. Bus Parking at Trailhead or along
Rd W. Registration / Start is about 750 M up the Boggy Draw Road from the Boggy Draw Trailhead.

Car Parking:
Parents and spectators should plan to arrive by 8:30am.
The best place to park is in the Boggy Draw Trailhead parking lot as
soon as you enter Boggy Draw, or on County Road W just before you get to
the Boggy Draw Trailhead. There is dispersed camping parking in Boggy
Draw and parking along the road beyond our start line. We will be limiting cars on the road once the meet begins as the start and part of the finish are on Boggy Draw Road (CR W).
Bus Drop Off and Parking:
Teams should plan to arrive before 7:30am for course walks.
Buses may drop teams off at the starting line. Buses may park along
Boggy Draw Road beyond the start line. There is a turn around for buses
1 mile beyond the start line.
Meet Schedule - Saturday, August 20th:
7:30am - 8:45am - Course Walks
9:00am - MS Girls - 3k
9:30am - MS Boys - 3k
10:00am - HS Girls - 5k
10:30am - HS Boys - 5k
11:00am- Awards
Timing/Entries:
Timing will be done by Rocky Mountain Timing. Unlimited entries for each race. Entries should be done on Milesplit by 4:00pm on Thursday, 8/18. Milesplit Colorado/Boggy Draw Bear Chase
Scoring:
Team scoring top 4 finishers with no displacers.
Awards:
Medals to top 3 individuals in each race
Ribbons to 4th - 10th place individuals
Team Plaque to 1st & 2nd place in each race
Fees:
$100 for High School, and $75 for Middle School or $10 per individual or reciprocate meet fees. Checks

Athletic Trainer:
Our athletic trainer, Kevin Lichner, will be onsite and stationed by the
finish line. Please make sure your athletes are hydrating on the bus to
Boggy Draw and throughout the day. Please bring a water jug for your
athletes to refill. We will have water near the finish as well.
Team Tent Area:
The team tent area is next to the finish line. We recommend bringing a tarp to put down. The ground is mostly dirt.
Concessions:
Our Booster Club will be near the finish doing concessions.
Course Maps:
The course is all dirt surface with a few hills. We named each hill and
have signs on the course designating each hill. We did this for a point
of reference when doing your course walk. The middle school course is
marked in white signs, flags, and arrows. The high school course is all
in orange.
