The day kicks off with packet pick-up at the Impression 5 Science Center, where participants can grab their long-sleeve zip-ups and finishers medals. The races begin bright and early at 8 AM on Michigan Ave, finishing at the scenic Rotary Park. Kids can join in the fun with their one-mile race at 11 AM, followed by a pizza party and a day of exploration at the Science Museum. Join us for a day filled with fitness, community spirit, and unforgettable memories at the Capital City River Run!

2025 MARKS THE 32ND ANNIVERSARY OF THE CAPITAL CITY RIVER RUNA COMPILATION OF FAMILY-FRIENDLY RACES THAT CELEBRATE, BUILD AWARENESS OF, AND FINANCIALLY SUPPORT GREATER LANSING ORGANIZATIONS THAT PROMOTE EDUCATION, THE DESIRE TO LEARN, AND HEALTHY LIFESTYLES. THIS EVENT SERIES PROVIDES A PREMIER RACING EXPERIENCE, HIGHLIGHTING THE NATURAL BEAUTY OF MICHIGANS CAPITAL CITY AND ADJOINING RIVERS.
The Capital City River Run makes a real impact within the community, benefiting Impression 5 Science Center and its mission to provide children and families access to science exploration through hands-on exhibits and participatory programming.
Annual races include a Half Marathon, 5K Walk/Run, and the Sohns Kids Race. All race participants receive a long-sleeve zip up and finishers medal.
