Chama Yak Attack

Get ready for an unforgettable adventure at the Chama Yak Attack, taking place on Sunday, August 25, 2024, in the stunning Chama, Rio Arriba! This exhilarating 2-day cycling and trail running event is set against the breathtaking backdrop of a 3,000-acre private Yak and Cattle ranch just north of Chama, New Mexico. Participants will traverse a variety of terrains, including old highway roads, ranch roads, logging paths, and elk trails, with elevations ranging from 8,500 feet to a challenging 10,100 feet.

Whether you’re a beginner or a hardcore athlete, the Chama Yak Attack offers a range of race distances from 1 mile to 30 miles, ensuring there's something for everyone. Cyclists can choose from gravel, cyclocross, or mountain bikes to tackle the course, and trail runners will revel in the captivating scenery of aspens and majestic mountain views under the iconic New Mexico blue skies. Special awards will be given for outstanding performances in both cycling and running events, along with a unique challenge for the King and Queen of the Mountain, rewarding participants with the lowest combined time.
