Join us for the exciting Charity Chase on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at the Mt. Vernon track located at Rockcastle County Middle School! This vibrant community event coincides with the Longest Day of Play and Community Health Fair, promoting family fitness while combating hunger in our area.
Kick off the festivities with the "Fastest Kid in Town" races at 5:30 PM, where young athletes aged 7 and under will compete in a thrilling 1/8 mile dash, followed by kids aged 8-12 racing a full lap around the track. Families can then join the fun with the Family 4x100 Relay at 5:45 PM—perfect for all ages, where teams of four will race to claim bragging rights at their next family gathering. The highlight of the evening, the Charity Chase, begins at 6:00 PM, allowing participants to run or walk as many laps as possible in 30 minutes. For every lap completed, Rockcastle Regional will generously donate $1 to a charity of your choice, including options like the American Cancer Society and the Grateful Bread Food Pantry. Registration is free with a donation of non-perishable food items, so come out, get active,

RACE REGISTRATION IS FREE WITH DONATION OF NON-PERISHABLE FOOD ITEMS FOR THE CHRISTIAN APPALACHIAN PROJECT (CAP) GRATEFUL BREAD FOOD PANTRY.

FASTEST KID IN TOWN @ 5:30 P.M.
Weve been wondering, just who is the fastest kid in this town, or in Rockcastle County? Well find out June 20, when there will be two races. Race one is for kids age 7 and under (1/8 mile or halfway around the track), and one for kids age 8 12 (1/4 mile or one lap around the track). Certificates awarded to the top 3 fastest boys and girls in each division.
FAMILY 4X100 RELAY RACE @ 5:45 P.M.
Were looking for groups of four to come out for this fun relay race, which will be somewhat like Family Feud, only theres running, and no survey questions, chatty hosts, or commercials. Just running. You can be male or female, old or young. We simply ask that you all be related, somehow, someway (well accept in-laws if you will). Youll each run a 100-meter stretch passing a baton to the next runner. The fastest family to complete the quarter-mile lap will have something to talk about at the next reunion!
CHARITY CHASE @ 6:00 P.M.
Run or walk around the track as many times as you can in 30 minutes, and Rockcastle Regional will donate $1 for every lap you complete to the charity you choose (a list of charities will be provided). As in years past, the registration fee is a canned good that goes to the Grateful Bread Food Pantry. (Limit 200 participants in the Charity Chase).
