Be one of the first to run or walk along the newest Schuylkill River Trail section! The Christian to Crescent Fun Run/Walk is your chance to see the cable-stayed bridge up close before the trail officially opens. Access this area from Schuylkill Banks trail access points at the CHOP Bridge [https://www.schuylkillbanks.org/landmarks/chop-bridge] (stairs only) and the South Street stairs [https://www.schuylkillbanks.org/landmarks/south-street-stairs] or ramp [https://www.schuylkillbanks.org/landmarks/south-street-ramp].

CHRISTIAN TO CRESCENT PROJECT DETAILS: Christian to Crescent [https://www.schuylkillbanks.org/projects/christian-crescent] is located along the east side of the Schuylkill River from the southern end of the South to Christian section near Christian Street to the northern end of the Grays Ferry Crescent section at 34th Street. This section extends Schuylkill Banks an additional 2,812 feet and fills a critical gap in the five-county Schuylkill River Trail. It features a 650-foot cable-stay bridge that boasts magnificent views of the city and Schuylkill River, trail lighting for nighttime use and safety, benches, trash cans, newly planted trees and flowering perennials, a tunnel connection to Grays Ferry Crescent, and an accessible connection to the 34th Street Bridge. This trail section is part of the greater Philadelphia regions Circuit Trails network and national East Coast Greenway.

SCHUYLKILL RIVER DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (SRDC): SRDC [https://www.schuylkillbanks.org/about] is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working with the City of Philadelphia to revitalize the Schuylkill River corridor from the Fairmount Dam to the Delaware River, branded as Schuylkill Banks. The centerpiece of this effort is the construction, programming, and maintenance of a continuous eight-mile riverfront trail and greenway with associated access points and amenities along the Banks. Work is under way to connect Fairmount Water Works and Bartrams Garden, two National Historic Landmarks, and extend the trail from its current southernmost point near 61st Street to the bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure on Passyunk Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia. Subsequent phases of the project will extend Schuylkill Banks to Fort Mifflin, another National Historic Landmark, situated near the confluence of the Schuylkill and Delaware Rivers.
