Organiser's Description
FREE for Club Spinistry members! Trial membership fee will be automatically deducted at checkout for existing members. Trial membership applies only to event day for potential new members. Fee can be applied to a full 12 month membership for those who want more Spinistry in their lives.
We're putting this one together specifically for our members (and soon to be members) in the Shreveport/Tyler/Texarkana region.
Jefferson is less than an hour's drive from Shreveport, just over an hour from Texarkana and under 90 minutes from Tyler. DFW folks are welcome to join as well. This is about 2.5 hours from Dallas proper.
This is considered a mixed surface adventure route but it is primarily unpaved and rough/patchy asphalt. A gravel/adventure bike is the way to go. Road bikes are not suitable at all. A hardtail MTB would be fine as well.
Please note that this is a club/group/social ride, not a formal event. There are no course markings, SAG vehicles, chip timing or outside support of any kind. All riders are expected to be self supported and have the ability to self navigate. Riders should be completely self sufficient or riding with an experienced partner who can assist if needed. We will provide routes to registered riders the week of the event on Ride With GPS. We will also provide free access to the Ride With GPS navigation app for those who do not have a dedicated navigation device. Please learn to use this functionality in advance. We will not be able to train people on site.
There are some hills along the is route. Long route riders will definitely want to bring their climbing legs. There will be some fast descents as well. Make sure your brakes are dialed in prior to start.
Route Designations:
Beginner = Beginner gravel rider, not a beginner cyclist. Riders should know how to do basic trail/road side maintenance including flat tire repair and carry all tools to complete needed tasks.
Intermediate = Experienced gravel rider who regularly rides routes 50 miles or longer.
Expert = Experienced endurance gravel rider who regularly rides 6 hours (or more) at a time. These riders should also have advanced navigation and troubleshooting skills.
More soon.
