Organiser's Description
We will meet_ _at Washington-Liberty high school track [https://www.arlingtonva.us/Government/Departments/Parks-Recreation/Locations/Parks/War-Memorial-Stadium] and go from there. **_Routes will be sent the Sunday before a Monday meet-up_.
This 8-WEEK, LOW-KEY GROUP will meet up to run some easy neighborhood routes of 1-3 miles. 3 route options of varying lengths will be offered before each meeting - you are free to choose whatever mileage works for you! The purpose is to have at least one afternoon every week that is guaranteed to be active during the darker, colder months! On our last meet-up, we will run an INFORMAL 5K TO WRAP THINGS UP! 5k route may involve track laps, depending on the group.
DETAILS:
* MONDAYS AT 5:00PM (yes, it may be dark already for the first few meetings, so please plan accordingly!)
* Starting JANUARY 27TH AND WRAPPING UP MARCH 24TH - there will be no meeting on February 17th (Presidents Day).
* Kids ages 10 & over may run without a parent/guardian, though they must stick with at least one adult along the route; if your child is under 10, I would ask that you come along.
* Pace will be a RELAXED CONVERSATION PACE - if you run with your kid(s) and want to go faster, have at it! But Coach Kate will maintain an easy jog to allow as many kids as possible to stay with the group.
* PARENTS RUN ALONG FOR FREE - you don't need to register and run at your own risk, of course, but the more, the merrier!
* This is a FUN RUN GROUP, not competitive.
* The kids will all receive a SMALL SNACK/TREAT at the end of each run - if you prefer your child not have that, please let Kate know.
* Coach Kate will send out WEEKLY EMAILS WITH TIPS AND TRICKS, but we won't be doing drills and/or structured speed work for this program. Suggestions for at-home work you can do with your kids will be provided.
* All youth runners will receive a MEDAL AND CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION at the end of the program!
* Please CHECK IN WITH COACH KATE at the end of every run.
* Should the weather prevent us from meeting, Coach Kate will do her best to schedule a make-up session.
