Organiser's Description
Come celebrate the birth of David Brearley, an American Founding Father and signer of the Constitution, by participating in a fun run! The scenic, out-and-back 5K course will begin at his historic home, the Brearley House [https://www.thelhs.org/1761-brearley-house] (built in 1761), and then travel along the Delaware & Raritan Canal to the Port Mercer Canal House [https://www.thelhs.org/port-mercer-canal-house] (built in the 1830s).
History-themed prizes will be awarded to the top 3 overall finishers and to the top 3 in each age group (0-17, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+).
For younger runners, there will be a short lap around the Brearley House meadow. All kids run participants will receive a "Don't Give Up the Ship" pin, in honor of the Lawrence Township namesake, Captain James Lawrence (a War of 1812 hero).
Registration also includes snacks, drinks, and tours of the Brearley House.
Due to limited parking at the Brearley House, Parking will be available at the corporate park right next to the house. The address is 2000 Lenox Dr, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. You will then follow the Lawrence Hopewell Trail to get to the Brearley House. It's about a 1/4 - 1/2 mile walk and signs will be posted with directions. If you need accommodations, please reach out.
