The East Center Black History 2K/5K & Heritage Run is a community-centered event designed to celebrate Black History Month through health, education, culture, and historical preservation. The proposed 5K route will guide participants through the historic East Center communitycommonly known as "The Quarters"while highlighting significant locations that have shaped the history and identity of Center and Shelby County. Additionally, we will include a 2K walking route to get those who feel as though they cannot complete a full 5K a way to engage.

Participants will pass seven historically significant sites, including three locations recognized with Texas Historical Markers. Along the route, runners and walkers will experience a unique blend of fitness, local history, and community pride.

The event is intended to become an annual tradition that honors the contributions of Black citizens of Center while promoting healthy lifestyles, community engagement, and heritage tourism.
