THE ELGIN VALLEY FOX TROT 10 MILE AND 5K RACES WILL TAKE PLACE IN ELGIN ON MAY 31, 2026. THIS WILL BE THE 49TH CONSECUTIVE ELGIN VALLEY FOX TROT WHICH MAKES IT ONE OF THE LONGEST RUNNING AND MOST POPULAR RUNNING EVENTS IN THE REGION. THE EVENT WILL INCLUDE A 10-MILE AND 5K RACE WITH BOTH FEATURING SCENIC USATF CERTIFIED COURSES. NEW FOR 2026 WILL BE A 2K FUN WALK.
THERE WILL ALSO BE A GREAT POSTRACE PARTY WHICH INCLUDES THE AWARDS PRESENTATION, AN EXPO BY OUR SPONSORS, MUSIC, DANCING, FREE BEER FOR ALL DRINKING AGE RUNNERS, GREAT TREATS FOR THE KIDS, AND FOOD TRUCKS FOR THE SPECTATORS AND RUNNERS. The race route heads through Elgins north end neighborhoods toward Dundee along the Fox River Trail and returns downhill on Grove. Running up Cedar Avenue at just beyond the 8-mile mark will remind long time Fox Trot runners of the old course up Duncan Avenue. -
5K Race

The course will begin at the corner of Grove Ave and Ann St. and will wind through the historic north end neighborhood. The downhill on Grove Avenue will provide a sprint to the finish. -
5K Youth Race (19 and Under)

This is the same course and time as the 5K Open Race, All youths age 19 and under can register for ONLY $20! This is the Elgin Valley Fox Trot's way of encouraging new young runners. Since the event is after the school year, any athletes may register. Also, there is a competitive "traveling" trophy named "The Fox" for the area high school with the highest number of competitors! -
2K Fun Walk

A walk is returning for the 2026 Fox Trot. For this first year, it will be 2k and not timed, but a free T-shirt, post-race beverages, and a bib to signify your participation will be included. The cost is $20 per walker OR $15 each for four or more team.
