Join us for the 50th celebration of the Elgin Valley Fox Trot on Sunday, June 6, 2027, in the picturesque town of Elgin, Kane. This iconic event features both a challenging 10-mile race and a fun 5K, making it a perfect outing for runners of all levels. The 10-mile course is USATF certified and includes an exciting special challenge for the fastest male and female runners tackling Cedar Avenue Hill during the 9th mile.
For those who prefer a more leisurely pace, the scenic 2K Fun Walk is a fantastic way to get involved. The walk, which starts after the 5K, meanders along the beautiful Fox River Trail and welcomes families and friends to participate together. Everyone in the 2K will receive an event t-shirt and an entry bib, with team and family discounts available.
After the races, stick around for a lively post-race party featuring delicious food and beverage options, awards presentations, a sponsor expo, music, dancing, and even free beer for participants of drinking age! COME HELP US CELEBRATE THE 50TH ELGIN VALLEY FOX TROT 10-MILE AND 5K RACES WHICH WILL TAKE PLACE IN ELGIN ON JUNE 6, 2027. THE FOX TROT IS ONE OF THE LONGEST CONTINUOUS AND MOST POPULAR RUNNING EVENTS IN THE REGION AND IS KNOWN FOR ITS SCENIC AND CHALLENGING COURSES. NEW FOR THE 50TH CELEBRATION, THE FOX TROT 10-MILE USATF CERTIFIED COURSE WILL INCLUDE A SPECIAL RACE-WITHIN-A-RACE! PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED TO THE TOP MALE AND TOP FEMALE RUNNER WHO CONQUER THE CEDAR AVENUE HILL (DURING THE 9TH MILE) IN THE FASTEST TIME.

OPENS 01 SEPThe race route heads through Elgins north end neighborhoods toward Dundee along the Fox River Trail and returns downhill on Grove. Running up Cedar Avenue at just beyond the 8-mile mark will remind long time Fox Trot runners of the old course up Duncan Avenue. -
5K Race

OPENS 01 SEPThe course will begin at the corner of Grove Ave and Ann St. and will wind through the historic north end neighborhood. The downhill on Grove Avenue will provide a sprint to the finish. -

OPENS 01 SEPThis is the same course and time as the 5K Open Race, All youths age 19 and under can register for ONLY $20! This is the Elgin Valley Fox Trot's way of encouraging new young runners. Since the event is after the school year, any athletes may register. Also, there is a competitive "traveling" trophy named "The Fox" for the area high school with the highest number of competitors! -
2K Fun Walk

OPENS 01 SEPMake it a family affair! If you are not running and still want to participate.....join in the on the scenic 2K Fun Walk. The 2K starts immediately after the 5K Race start time and will take you along the Fox River Trail. Everyone in the 2K Fun Walk will receive an event tee shirt and enjoy all the post-race party amenities. The Walk is not timed, but each participant will receive an entry bib. The 2K Fun Walk offers team and family discounts. The cost is $20 per walker OR $15 each for four or more team.
