The location for this event has changed. A wildfire at the original location has forced the trail closed. We will be moving the start line to Wyeth Trailhead, just off I84 at exit 51.

A 1, 3, 7 and 9.75 mile run/walk to honor and remember Ezra Blue, and to raise money for pediatric brain cancer research at Seattle Childrens Hospital. The main run is 7 miles this year, as he would have turned 7 on August 19, 2024. We would like to lengthen it by one mile every year after to honor this brave little guys journey. The 9 mile run is an option, as it allows a runner to reach Starvation Creek at the halfway point, if desired. Medals will be given out for fastest time, oldest runner, and youngest runner.

The 80.00 fee is a suggested donation and includes a t-shirt. We would like anyone who wants to participate to be able to! Even if you cant afford the donation! Just show up on the day and run/walk or hang with us!!

Ezra's Flight for Cancer, Incorporated is dedicated to raising funds in support of pediatric brain cancer research, specifically targeting relapsed or refractory CNS tumors, like the one Ezra battled. We aim to address the severe lack of research funding for childhood cancers, particularly pediatric brain tumors, which have one of the highest death rates among childhood cancers and yet receive one of the lowest levels of research funding. Through community support and donations, we strive to create a legacy for Ezra Blue and contribute to saving lives by advancing research and treatment options for pediatric brain cancer.

Ezra's Story:

Ezra Blue's journey began on 4/8/2021 when, at just 3 years old, he was diagnosed with high-risk medulloblastoma, an aggressive brain tumor. Despite enduring brain surgery, high-dose chemotherapy, stem cell transplants, and radiation, Ezra's battle ultimately led him to enroll in a T-cell immunotherapy trial at Seattle Childrens Hospital. Tragically, Ezra's fight came to an end before he could commence the trial, underscoring the urgency of our mission.

Pediatric brain tumors pose a formidable challenge due to their diversity and complexity, with over 120 types requiring tailored treatment approaches. Unlike adult brain tumors, pediatric cases often exhibit distinct characteristics, rendering conventional treatments ineffective. The dearth of effective treatment options not only limits survival rates but also subjects young patients to harsh and protracted hospital stays, separating them from their families.
