Get ready for a fantastic Thanksgiving tradition at the Family of New Paltz 5K Turkey Trot, taking place on Thursday, November 26, 2026, in the scenic town of New Paltz, Ulster. This exciting event brings together the community for a spirited 5K run and walk, all while supporting the vital work of the Family of New Paltz Food Pantry and Crisis Services. Participants will enjoy a USATF certified course, complete with chip-timed results and the opportunity to capture their finish line moments with free photos!
In addition to the main event, families can partake in the beloved Mashed Potato Fun Run, which is free for kids aged 12 and under. Runners of all ages will be recognized, with medals awarded to the top three finishers in each ten-year age group for both men and women. The 2026 Race is presented by New Paltz Healthy & Nutrition Center and Kniffen Homes..
The Family of New Paltz Turkey Trot is a 5K run and walk held annually Thanksgiving morning to support Family of New Paltzs Food Pantry and Crisis Services. Family of New Paltz is a crisis intervention center located in the heart of New Paltz since 1975. Family provides a myriad of services, including a 24 hour hotline and new text line, food pantry, counseling, support groups and shelters for adults, adolescents and victims of domestic violence.
This year's event will include the famous Mashed Potato Fun Run, which is free for kids 12 and under, and for the more serious runners, our USATF certified 5K course will include chip timed start and finish. As part of the package provided by the chip-timing company, photos of individual runners crossing the finish line will be available for upload at no cost. Age groups this coming year will be in ten-year increments, and medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each age group, with separate awards for male and female.
