THE RUM RUNNER MILE
The _RUM RUNNER MILE_ is a sun-soaked twist on the classic beer mile, swapping out pints for a tropical punch that packs a little more personality. The format is simple but deceptively challenging: participants run four 1/4 mile loops, and before each loop, they must down a 4 oz Rum Runnera fruity cocktail typically blending rum, banana liqueur, blackberry liqueur, and citrus juices.
What starts as a fun, beachy vibe quickly turns into a test of both speed and stomach. Costumes, island shirts, and a party atmosphere are highly encouraged, making it as much a social spectacle as a race.
Equal parts athletic event and tropical-themed chaos, the _RUM RUNNER MILE_ rewards those who can balance pace, composure, and a strong tolerance for beachy cocktails. palm tree The Rum Runner Event Date: Saturday, June 7, 2025 Start Time: 9:30 AM (following the 5K ) Location: Bell Tower Shops Distance: 1 Mile (4 x 1/4 mile loops) Drinks: 4 x 4 oz tropical rum cocktails (1 before each lap) desert island How It Works 1. Runners will complete four 1/4 -mile loops, for a total of 1 mile. 2. Before each loop, participants must stop at the Rum Runner Station to enjoy a 4 oz rum punch. 3. After finishing their drink, each runner must turn the cup upside down over their head, then dispose of the cup in the trash cans and head out on the next lap. 4. First one to finish all four loops and drinks will be crowned the official Rum Runner! tropical drink Rum Runner Station Setup We will have 4 to 6 tables with pre-filled 4 oz rum punch cocktails at the loop start/finish area. Volunteers will be there to serve additional drinks and monitor to ensure each one is fully consumed before continuing. Water, shade tents, and hydration stations will be available for recovery and comfort. locked with key Safety & Rules Must be 21+ to participate in the Rum Runner Mile. Valid government-issued ID required at packet pickup and again one race day. You will not be permitted to race on race day if you dont have a valid ID. Each cocktail is limited to 4 oz for safety and enjoyment. Medical personnel will be onsite for your safety. Participants may run just for fun without drinkingbut only drinkers will be eligible for awards. trophy Awards & Recognition Top Male and Female finishers will receive a Rum & Fun gift package. Tropical attire highly encouraged! Think leis, Hawaiian shirts, beachwear, and flamingo sockslet's make it a vibe!
