Run and Walk for Birth: Building Access, Advancing Justice
The Haven Midwifery 5K is more than a raceit is a movement to transform maternal health in Brooklyn. This year, we are proud to partner with Health Justice Initiative (HJI) as a premier partner in advancing a shared vision: equitable healthcare for all families.
Haven Midwifery Collective and Health Justice Initiative believe that equitable healthcare requires both access to high-quality, culturally responsive care and the ability to overcome systemic barriers that prevent individuals and families from receiving the services they need.
Haven is working to open Brooklyns first midwifery-led birth centerexpanding access to compassionate, personalized maternity care in a safe, community-centered environment. At the same time, HJI is addressing the legal, financial, and structural barriers that contribute to health inequities, ensuring that families can truly access and benefit from that care.
Together, through the 2026 Haven 5K, our partnership represents a powerful, community-driven approach to changeone that brings healthcare, advocacy, and justice together.
