Historic Half Training (sponsored by Lucky Road & FARC)

Are you running the MCM Historic Half Marathon in May? Could you benefit from accountability to commit to your longer training runs (regardless of your pace)? Do you find it helpful to make your long runs fun by having someone by your side? If this sounds like you, look no further! The Fredericksburg Area Running Club has partnered with Lucky Road to bring back the Historic Half Training Group.
WHEN: Every Sunday, beginning March 3, 2024 and running through May 12, 2024. The MCM Historic Half is on Sunday, May 19, 2024, one week after the final training run.  All training runs will begin at 7:30 AM unless otherwise noted.WHERE: All runs will start at Lucky Road in Fredericksburg (1865 Carl D Silver Parkway, Fredericksburg 22401).COST: Free, unless you are interested in purchasing a Training Group shirt ($15).WHAT: Supported long runs will occur once a week. There will be three pace groups--9:00 min/mi, 10:30 min/mi, and 13:00+ min/mi (run/walk)--led by volunteer pacers for each run. Folks are welcome to come out and run at their own pace if they do not want to run as part of a pace group. The run distances are determined by the long runs in Hal Higdon's Intermediate 1 Training Plan. Run distances range from 4 miles (week 1) to 12 miles (week 11). All routes will be mapped and available ahead of the run.OTHER: Runs 6 miles or longer will have hydration support on the course. Additionally, Lucky Road is working on getting gel samples for participants to use on their training runs. We are also hoping to incorporate some fun post-run events--e.g., a pancake breakfast out of Lucky Road on Mother's Day.  We are also working on an option to run at the Dahlgren Trail instead of out of Lucky Road on a couple of the training days.
