Organiser's Description
Interested in riding your bike on gravel and not sure how to get started? Come join us for this introductory information session and group ride. Entry fee is waived for current Club Spinistry members. Entry fee covers a one day trial membership with Club Spinistry. The fee can be applied towards a full 12 month membership. Non members can visit Mad Duck Cyclery in Grapevine to receive a coupon code that waives the fee for this event.
This is considered an all weather ride/informational session. These routes are designed with the inexperienced gravel rider in mind. They are composed primarily of quiet, paved, country roads that showcase the typical terrain and remote features of a north Texas gravel ride. Each route includes gravel segments specifically selected to showcase what gravel has to offer. The longer the route, the more variety of gravel as well as the longer stretches of gravel in between paved segments.
All routes will require a gravel capable bicycle. Helmets are required and front/rear lighting is recommended. These routes are all public roads so riders are expected to adhere to the Texas Transportation code.
Schedule for the day:
8:00am General information session for all distances/riders
8:10 Long route start (these are expected to be very experienced riders capable of self navigation and on route repair)
8:15 Roundtable discussion/information session for intermediate/beginner riders
9:15 Shorter route starts (30 mile route is the "no drop" route
12:00 Pavilion post ride gathering/discussion (bring a lunch and drinks)
