COURSE: Both races start at a cool 4300' elevation, on pavement with adjacent grass. The 5k gains 230' in elevation before participants execute a large sweeping mid-point turnaround to be rewarded with a fast downhill finish! 10K ENTHUSIASTS LOOP THE ELEVATION GAIN TWICE AS THEY SWITCH MULTIPLE TIMES BETWEEN PAVEMENT AND TRAIL BEFORE MAKING THE LAST TURN FOR THE 1-MILE DOWNHILL FINISH FRAMED WITH AWESOME VALLEY VIEWS. Manned water and aide stations will be provided for your comfort and safety.
WELCOME: Ages 3 to 93! Strollers, sport chairs, hand-cycles, and wheelchairs are allowed for the 5k. Animals, bikes, skate boards, roller blades or other wheeled devises are not permitted. Although traffic is restricted to one lane with a pilot car, headphones are discouraged for runner safety.
PARKING: I-10 Exit 297 south onto J-6 Ranch Road, then follow the signs. Multiple participants within same vehicle QUALIFY FOR PREMIER PARKING. Be close to Check-In; Registration Tables; Info Boards; Portable Bathrooms; the Start/Finish Line; Post Nutrition Station; and, of course, the Awards/Prize Corral!

CLOSEDDESCRIPTION: This pavement to trail route is not walker-friendly during the 2 hours in which Chip timing is available. BE IN THE KNOW by checking all the details provided under Course Description. THE LATEST REVISIONS HAVE BEEN MADE TO THE SCHEDULE, AND RACE INFO. IF WARRANTED, WE WILL CONTINUE TO ADAPT TO ASSURE THAT HEALTH AND SAFETY PROTOCOLS ARE IN PLACE. The 10K race begins with a GUN START at 6:30 am on Sept. 14 th at an elevation of 4300' in the Whetstone Mtn. Foothills. During the in-and-out course, participants will switch multiple times from pavement to trail and will loop the elevation change of 230' 2 times before a fast track 2.5k downhill finish framed with magnificent views and landscapes.
