Join us for the 2nd Annual Janice Rhein Memorial Scholarship 5K on Saturday, May 17, 2025, in the charming town of Almont, Lapeer. This exciting event features a 5K race and a fun walk set against the scenic backdrop of the Almont School Campus. Runners and walkers will enjoy a primarily grass and dirt course that takes you through all three schools and multiple sports fields, culminating in a thrilling finish on the track of the football stadium.
But that's not all! The day will also include the adorable Teddy Bear Trot, a 1/4 mile run/walk specifically designed for children ages 2-10. Young participants will have the chance to race on the track and receive a special finishers award, adding to the fun. With awards for the top male and female finishers and custom medals for the top three runners in various age divisions, this event promises to be a fantastic celebration of community spirit and athleticism. Come out to support a great cause while making unforgettable memories!

Organiser's Description
This will be the 2nd annual race to support the Janice Rhein Memorial Scholarship all proceeds from this event will go to the scholarship fund. This 5K Race and Fun Walk will take place on the Almont School Campus. Most of the course will be grass or dirt with a very limited paved portion. You will tour all three schools, multiple sports fields, and finish on the track in the football stadium. Both the run and walk will take place at the same time. A Teddy Bear Trot, 1/4 mile run/walk, for children from ages 2-10 will take place on the track after the completion of the 5K run/walk. Teddy Bear participants will experience the track finish and receive a finishers award at the end of their race. There will be awards for the top male and female runners as well as custom medals for the top three runners in each age division. 12-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69

5K Course begins outside of the football stadium and makes a loop around the front of the high school then heads quickly on the paved portion of the course for 3/4 of a mile to the Orchard Primary. There the runners/walkers will transition to grass and make a loop through the soccer field and find their way to the Middle School before winding their way through the tree-lined cross country course. Once out of the orchard the race finishes on the track. -
