Event summary
Participants will kick off their journey at the iconic Louisville Slugger Field and run through the scenic neighborhoods, including the historic infield of Churchill Downs, the legendary home of the Kentucky Derby. Runners can choose from various distances, including the miniMarathon and the full Marathon, with an exciting addition—the Kentucky Derby Festival 5K on Friday evening at 7 PM. This new race offers a fantastic opportunity for competitors to take on the KDF Race Challenge by participating in both the 5K and either the mini or full Marathon for that extra medal! For those unable to join in person, a virtual race option allows runners to complete their miles wherever they are. Don't miss out on this unforgettable celebration of fitness, community, and the spirit of Kentucky!
Organiser's Description
Back for 2026 is the Kentucky Derby Festival 5K presented by First Urology, taking place on Friday, April 24th at 7pm. This race, which debuted in 2025, is an exciting addition to the Race Weekend and also gives runners the opportunity to complete the KDF Race Challenge by completing the 5K on Friday, then either the mini or Marathon on Saturday for a 3rd medal!
Participants will also have the opportunity to participate in our virtual race, which will allow runners who cannot join us in Louisville to complete the mini or full marathon wherever is convenient for them.
