This thrilling event features a variety of race options, including a challenging 12.5-mile gravel bike race, as well as 30 and 60-mile gravel routes through the scenic Kisatchie Forest. For those who prefer to run, choose between a 5K and 10K on paved roads, complete with a beautiful wooden bridge crossing in Caney Lakes Park.
Whether you're an experienced racer or a first-timer, there's something for everyone, including e-bikes (though not eligible for top awards) and mountain bikes. Helmets are required, and all participants will enjoy a post-race meal and a chance to win cool custom awards in various categories. With plenty of shaded areas, picnic tables, and even a sandy beach for swimming, it's a perfect outing for the whole family! Organiser's Description
Gravel Bike race for 15 (actually 12.5), 30 or 60 mile or 5k/10k run. Pick 1, not both lol. 5k/10k will be on paved roads & 1 flat wooden bridge inside Caney Lakes Park in Minden, LA. The Gravel Bike race will head north of the park on Kisatchie Forest gravel roads (75%gravel, 25%paved). Experienced or 1st timers are welcome! It can be a race or a ride. E-bikes are welcome but wont be eligible for top 3 awards. Mountain bikes are welcome, but the fastest people will be on gravel bikes. Helmets required. Main thing is to come & join in the fun!
Non Racers are encouraged to come & hang out! The Event will start/end at the Day Use Area. You will have plenty of shade, amphitheater, picnic tables, AC power, public restrooms, volleyball area & sandy beach area with swimming. Bring your family/friends and hang out with like minded people! All proceeds help us raise money to maintain our gravel & mtb trails, expand our trails & start a youth mountain bike team! Non Racers are encouraged to come & hang out! Group Lodging & onsite Camping is available! See our Facebook page for more info. T-shirt (if registered 2 weeks in advance) & post race meal are included in registration price. Non racers can purchase food too. Cool Custom awards for top 3 in each category. Race Routes... 5k/10k Run/Walk is on all paved roads inside Caney Lakes & across a flat wooden bridge over water.
15mi Gravel (actually 12.5) is on gravel roads just north of Caney Lakes. You will see a Large Tree. Route has been shortened due to road wash out.
30 & 60mi Gravel is on gravel roads in Kisatchie Forest. Course is scenic & has good elevation.
