Event summary
Get ready to lace up your running shoes for the 4th Annual Let's Make Pink Just a Color event, taking place on Sunday, October 18, 2026, in the beautiful Morehead City, Carteret. This uplifting gathering features a 5K run and a 1.5-mile fun run/walk, inviting participants of all ages and fitness levels to join in the celebration of love, hope, and healing. Founded by the inspiring Brittany Kelley, who bravely battled stage 3 triple-negative breast cancer, this event honors her legacy and aims to transform the color pink from a symbol of pain into one of resilience and community spirit.
In previous years, this heartwarming race has grown tremendously, with over 800 participants raising nearly $100,000 last year alone to support local initiatives for those affected by cancer. This year, let's come together once more to honor Brittany's vision, support our neighbors in need, and spread the message that people define us, not colors. Join us for a day filled with camaraderie, purpose, and the joyous spirit of running for a cause that truly matters!

Organiser's Description
4th Annual Let's Make Pink Just a Color 5K & 1.5-Mile Fun Run/Walk In Loving Memory of Brittany Kelley, Founder
Brittany Kelley founded this race in 2023 with a simple but powerful dream: to make pink just a color again, not a symbol of pain or loss, but of love, hope, and healing. She passed away on September 28, 2025, after a courageous fight with stage 3 triple-negative breast cancer. She was a mother, a fighter, a community builder, and the heart behind this movement.
Her Legacy Lives On
What began as Brittany's vision has grown beyond anything she could have imagined.
In year one, over 400 participants raised more than $38,000. In 2024, we surpassed $50,000. And in 2025, our first year without her, over 800 participants came together and raised nearly $100,000 in her honor.
Thanks to your support, we've been able to provide chemo port access shirts, surgical bras, drain holders, meals, gas cards, therapy sessions, and weekend getaways, all staying right here in Carteret County, just like she wanted.
This Year, We Run for Her, Again
Join us as we carry her mission forward, support our neighbors still in the fight, and remind the world that pink doesn't define us. People do.
Let's make pink just a color. for Brittany.
Please note: This race will not be officially timed.
