Event summary
Join Brittany Kelley, founder of Let's Make Pink Just a Color, for the 2nd Annual Pink is Just a Color Breast Cancer Walk on Sunday, October 20th, 2024, in Morehead City, Carteret. This event includes a 5k and 1.5-mile fun run/walk to raise funds for local breast cancer patients. Last year, the event raised over $38,000 with 400 participants, providing essential support items to those in need. Let's come together again in 2024 to surpass last year's fundraising goal and provide even more assistance to our breast cancer community. Your support is truly appreciated, and together, we can make a difference! *Please note that the race will not be officially timed.
Organiser's Description
Pink is Just a Color Breast Cancer Walk 2nd Annual 5k and 1.5-mile fun run/ walk.
Let's Make Pink Just a Color's first annual event was on October 22, 2023. It raised over $38,000 with 400 participants. Since the event, chemo port access shirts have been provided, as well as drain bulb belt holders, drain bulb shower holders, and surgical bras to local breast cancer patients.
I hope to surpass the amount raised last year and to provide more to our breast cancer community in 2024 by providing meals and a weekend away to a few families to relax and be with their loved ones. I thank you for all your support in 2024, and I know the breast cancer community thanks you.

Being diagnosed with stage three breast cancer is not the best news a young mom of three boys wants to hear in the middle of summer. On June 20, 2023 Brittany was diagnosed with stage three triple negative invasive carcinoma breast cancer. Without even hesitating, Brittany took her battle with cancer head-on and is on her way to kick its butt! She completed twenty-four weeks of chemotherapy on December 7, 2023, followed by a double mastectomy on January 3, 2024, reconstruction surgery on January 23, 2024, 6.5 weeks of radiation with a completion date of April 30, 2024, and then hopefully ending with 6 months of oral chemotherapy, starting the summer of 2024!
