Get ready for an exhilarating experience at the Mary Lou Triathlon on Sunday, June 22, 2025, held at the beautiful Deyo Reservoir just outside Weippe, Idaho! This exciting event, previously known as the Bald Mountain Triathlon, promises a fun-filled day for athletes of all levels. Participants will kick off the race with a 300-yard swim from the sandy beach, followed by a scenic 13-mile mountain bike course that winds along Schmidt Mill Road and through forested trails. Rounding out the triathlon is a delightful 2.2-mile run around the reservoir, offering stunning views and a rewarding challenge.
For the younger athletes, a special Youth Triathlon will take place on Saturday, June 21, at 6:00 PM, catering to kids aged 4-12. With packet pickup scheduled for Saturday afternoon and an athlete briefing the same evening, participants will be well-prepared for race day! NEW DATE IN 2025!!! We are moving the race to June 22.
This race was previously named the Bald Mountain Triathlon, and was held at Bald Mountain Ski Area in 2020, but moved to Deyo Reservoir for 2021 and 2022 and was renamed in honor of the Deyo Family matriarch in 2023.
The race will be located at the Deyo Reservoir outside of Weippe, Idaho. The swim will take place from the sandy beach and traverse 300 yards before transitioning to mountain bike gear and leaving the reservoir along Schmidt Mill Road to 3-mile Road to Fidler Road and then along a forested trail back to 3-mile Road and the reservoir, approximately 13 miles. The run course will be the well-travelled 2.2 mile trail around the reservoir. There will be a single transition area.

Safety:
No roads are closed for this race, however there will be traffic control at major intersections. It is your responsibility to yield to traffic. The good news is most of this race is on lightly travelled gravel roads and trails and traffic is minimal in the areas where you will be sharing the road.
Rules:
This is not a USA Triathlon (USAT) sanctioned event and you do not need to have a USAT card to participate, however we will be abiding by USAT rules. https://www.teamusa.org/USA-Triathlon/About/Multisport/Competitive-Rules
We discourage the use of wetsuits for this short swim, however if water temperature is less than 84 degrees they are allowable.
No lifejackets allowed.
Helmets required for the duration of the bike ride.
