Get ready for a fantastic day of fun and fitness at the McHenry Lakefront 5K & Kids Fun Run on Saturday, July 12, 2025! Set against the beautiful backdrop of McHenry, this annual event invites participants of all ages to enjoy a chip-timed and USATF certified course that starts at Petersen Park Beach, winds along the scenic Prairie Trail, and meanders through the charming Lakeland Park neighborhood. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or a family looking to enjoy the outdoors, the 5K distance offers something for everyone.
Kids will have a blast in the Kids Fun Run, featuring both a 50m race for ages 3-5 and a 100m race for ages 6-8. Every little runner will receive a medal, ensuring that everyone feels like a champion! For the adults, there are awards for the top overall male and female finishers, along with medals for the top three finishers in each age group, ranging from 9 & under to 70 & over. Walk or run the annual McHenry Lakefront 5K! The Kids Fun Run includes a 50m (ages 3-5) & 100m (ages 6-8) race, so bring out the kids!
Course is chip-timed and USATF certified course. Fee includes t-shirt.
Awards for top overall male & female finisher, along with 1st-3rd place age group male & female finishers. Check-in from 7:00 am - 7:45 am.
FREE TV: Abt has graciously donated a Samsung 55" Crystal UHD Smart TV. The top 3 finishers of each age/gender group will be entered into a raffle to win the TV!
BIB/SHIRT PICKUP - Available Friday, July 11 from 12 pm - 6 pm at the McHenry Recreation Center, 3636 Municipal Drive, McHenry, or day of the race.
5K COURSE (ALL AGES) - The course leaves Petersen Park Beach and weaves along the Prairie Trail and through the Lakeland Park neighborhood. Nice, shaded, flat race course!
