Ruckers will briefly feel what it takes to retrieve a fallen soldier off the battlefield by way of litter (military gurney stretcher). Participation in Carrying the Fallen Each participant will hold one corner handle of the litter (military gurney stretcher) for 10 minutes during the actual ruck march event. Four participants will be carrying the simulated fallen soldier at any given time. Litter could weigh 195 lbs. or more. (Adults & teens recommended for this level due to the load bearing requirement.) Space is limited to 18 spaces. Carrying load can simulate what soldiers go through at any given time during combat. From the gear they carry to the carrying another soldier off the battlefield. Participants will be placed in teams of 4 and given one sandbag. The team is required to carry the sandbag for the entire 5K. How and when a team will carry the sandbag is entirely up to the team. Each teammate must take at least one turn carrying the sandbag. Running with additional weight on your body is difficult. Be sure to take breaks as needed. Space is limited to 20 spaces.
