Get ready for a day of fun and fitness at the Mini Mortals Duathlon on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Lake Pueblo State Park! This exciting youth duathlon features a new venue and format, perfect for young athletes eager to showcase their skills in a vibrant and friendly environment. Participants will race in age-specific categories, with distances tailored to their age group:
- Ages 5-8 will tackle a 0.6 mile run, a 1.8 mile bike ride, and finish with another 0.6 mile run.
- Ages 9-11 will take on a 1.2 mile run, a 4 mile bike, followed by a final 0.6 mile run.
- Ages 12-15 will challenge themselves with a 1.8 mile run, a 6 mile bike ride, and a concluding 1.2 mile run.
Families are encouraged to join in the spirit of competition, as the event often sees multiple generations racing together! Plus, if a parent or grandparent is participating in the Ordinary Mortals Duathlon, there are discount codes available for families. NEW VENUE AND FORMAT IN 2025! Increasing traffic and other events at the university forced us to look at other options. It's too early in May for a swim so we are changing from a triathlon to a duathlon at Lake Pueblo State Park - Kestrel Pond area (formerly called Rock Canyon Swim Beach)
MINI MORTALS TRIATHLON (MMT) is a youth duathlon following the ORDINARY MORTALS RACE [https://runsignup.com/Race/CO/Pueblo/OrdinaryMortalsTriathlon]and distances are based on the age of participant on 12/31 of this year. For example an 8-year old child turning 9 at any point during the calendar year will compete in the 9-11 year age group and distance (USAT rules, not our rules):
* 5-8 YEARS: 0.6 mile run, 1.8 mile bike, 0.6 mile run. One parent may escort on course.
* 9-11 YEARS: 1.2 mile run, 4 mile bike, 0.6 mile run
* 12-15 YEARS: 1.8 mile run, 6 mile bike, 1.2 mile run
This event often attracts several families of two or three generations racing together the same day! Email us if a parent or grandparent will be racing in Ordinary Mortals to get a discount code for OMD if they bring a kiddo to Mini Mortals.
