Get ready to lace up your running shoes for the 2nd Annual MMT1 Foundation 5K Run on Saturday, November 9th, 2024, in the charming downtown Fort Gibson, Muskogee! This exciting event will feature a USATF certified 5K run/walk as well as a fun 1-mile run/walk, making it perfect for participants of all ages and fitness levels. The race kicks off at the picturesque Fort Gibson Park, located at the intersection of Maple and Railroad.
As we commemorate Veterans Day, we encourage everyone to wear red, white, and blue to show support for our veterans. Participants will be timed by I:40 Race Service, and medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each 5K age group. After the race, enjoy some refreshing snacks while connecting with fellow runners. Your participation not only promotes fitness and community spirit but also supports the mission of the Michael Moore Type1 (MMT1) Foundation, which is dedicated to raising funds for Type 1 diabetes research, providing educational resources, and assisting those in need. PLEASE JOIN US ON NOVEMBER 9TH FOR THE 2ND ANNUAL MICHAEL MOORE TYPE1 (MMT1) DIABETES FOUNDATION. THIS 5K RUN/WALK AND 1 MILE FUN RUN/WALK WILL BE HELD IN DOWNTOWN FORT GIBSON AND WILL BE RUN ON A NEW USATF CERTIFIED COURSE THAT STARTS AT DOWNTOWN FORT GIBSON PARK AT MAPLE AND RAILROAD (SCROLL DOWN FOR THE MAP). THIS EVENT COINCIDES WITH VETERANS DAY, SO PLEASE WEAR RED, WHITE, AND BLUE IN SUPPORT OF OUR VETERANS. RACE TIMING BY I:40 RACE SERVICE AND MEDALS WILL BE AWARDED TO TOP 3 IN EACH 5K AGE GROUP. TYPE1 DIABETES IS A CHRONIC (LIFE-LONG) AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE THAT PREVENTS YOUR PANCREAS FROM MAKING INSULIN. IT REQUIRES DAILY MANAGEMENT WITH INSULIN INJECTIONS AND BLOOD SUGAR MONITORING. BOTH CHILDREN AND ADULTS CAN BE DIAGNOSED WITH TYPE 1 DIABETES.
MMT1 WAS RECENTLY FOUNDED FOR THE PURPOSE OF:
- RAISING FUNDS FOR RESEARCH FOR A CURE FOR TYPE1 DIABETES
- PROVIDING EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES FOR BOTH TYPE1 AND TYPE2 DIABETES
- PROVIDIONG FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO THOSE TYPE1'S THAT NEED IT.
