Imagine starting your race in the pre-dawn quiet of Molokai, Hawaii’s Friendly Isle, where there are no stoplights, no high-rises and plenty of aloha. On Saturday, October 2, 2027, the Molokai Marathon invites runners and walkers of every level to experience Hawaii the way locals know it.
Choose your distance: Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, 5K or the 1-Mile Keiki & Makua for kids and parents. Every course starts and finishes at the Molokai Community Health Center in Kaunakakai and runs out and back on paved roads lined with coconut palms and ocean views. You’ll watch the sunrise over the water and cheer for fellow runners as you pass.
At the finish, the celebration moves to the oceanside banyan for food, live music and awards, with the local farmers market steps away. Every participant earns a finisher medal and a HydraPak SpeedCup to take home, and our cupless aid stations keep you hydrated with Hidrate808. Marathon and Half runners also receive a performance race jersey and a post-race luncheon.
Race weekend begins Friday, October 1, with packet pickup and a vendor expo. Hosted by Youth in Motion, every entry supports Molokai’s youth. Come for the run and leave feeling like family.

Location

The Molokai Marathon is based in Kaunakakai, the main town on Molokai, Hawaii’s Friendly Isle. With no stoplights, no high-rises and a population of about 7,000, Molokai offers a rare look at rural Hawaiian life and a slower pace than the busier islands.
Start and finish: Molokai Community Health Center, Kaunakakai. The start is in the Health Center parking lot by the big shade tree. The finish is at the property entrance next to the Kaunakakai farmers market. Food, live music and awards take place under the oceanside banyan, with lawn seating for spectators. Getting to Molokai: Fly into Molokai Airport (MKK) on an inter-island flight from Honolulu or Kahului, Maui. Kaunakakai is about a 15-minute drive from the airport.
Getting around: There’s no public transit or rideshare to rely on, and rental cars are limited, so reserve one early. Molokai Outdoors offers car rentals and trip-planning help.
Where to stay: Lodging on Molokai is limited and books up early. Options include Hotel Molokai, Castle Resorts condos, and vacation rentals. [Add runner discount codes once confirmed.]
Food and supplies: Kaunakakai has grocery stores, local eateries and the farmers market. Some businesses keep short hours, especially on Sundays, so plan ahead.

    Our aid stations are cupless to keep Molokai clean. You carry your soft, collapsible SpeedCup and fill it at each station, then take it home as a keepsake.

  • How do I get to Molokai?

    Molokai is a short flight from Honolulu or Kahului. We don’t sell travel packages, so you book your own trip. The Molokai Outdoors website has tips on flights, car rentals and lodging.

  • Where should I stay?

    Lodging on Molokai is limited, so book early. We have discount codes but limited to Molokai Sores, but there is Hotel Molokai, the condos on the West end and Wavecrest plus camping options

  • Can my family come?

    Absolutely. The finish area has lawn seating, food vendors, live music and the farmers market next door. Kids can run the 1-Mile Keiki & Makua with a parent. This is an alcohol-free event.

  • What are the age requirements?
