With a variety of hiking options available, participants can choose from easy and moderate strolls or push their limits on more strenuous hikes through breathtaking coastal sage scrub and vibrant riparian plant communities.
Nature enthusiasts will be treated to picturesque views, the chance to enjoy a picnic, and the delightful sounds of local wildlife, including acorn woodpeckers and red-tailed hawks. Don't miss the opportunity to experience the perennial waterfall, a highlight of the hike! With a maximum of 18 participants, registration is exclusively open to qualified liberty patrons assigned to NBVC, so be sure to secure your spot early. NBVC LIBERTY SOLSTICE HIKE, MALIBU SEPTEMBER 7, 2024

Check out this early morning hike with an amazing view from the Solstice
Canyon on the scenic Pacific Coast Highway. Hike trails include several
options from easy and moderate scenic strolls, or strenuous hikes through
coastal sage scrub and riparian plant communities. Visitors can enjoy a
picnic, a shady stroll along the Solstice Canyon Trail, or a more challenging
climb up the Rising Sun Trail. Our perennial waterfall is a popular hiking
destination, and along the way you might encounter acorn woodpeckers,
alligator lizards, fence lizards, or a red-tailed hawk soaring overhead. Pick
up at CoffeeNet 9 am, SurfNet9:30 am. 18 person maximum.
Registration is open to qualified liberty patrons only. Liberty is defined as active duty single sailor (or airman) age 18-26, rank e1-e6, and geo-batchelors, currently assigned to NBVC. If your command requires approval to participate in events, you are responsible for procuring said approval before signing up. By registering you agree that you meet the qualifications listed above. Patrons who are not qualified liberty patrons, (e.g. non active duty, dependents, retirees, or DoD civilian) are NOT permitted on Liberty specific trips, but are encouraged to check out the many wonderful opportunities available through NBVC's MWR Community Recreation program.
Refunds are generally not issued. If you find that you are unable to attend after signing up, but before the trip, please let us know and ask a friend if they would be interested in replacing your spot. No call no shows will not be issued a refund and you will be reported to your command (even on free events)
