Organiser's Description
The NCRC Classic Half-Marathon & 10K Races are now in their 26th year and considered to be two of the Triangle areas premier distance races. This year's race will be held on Sunday, May 11, 2025. The name of this race is changing this year (2025) to honor the memory of Joe Lugiano, a charter member of the North Carolina Roadrunners Club who served as the club's first president and in many roles since our founding in 1979. Joe, a legend in the Raleigh area running community who died Dec. 3, was also instrumental in the Umstead 100 Endurance Run. Joe spent numerous volunteer hours in his beloved Umstead State Park, home of the Umstead 100 and this race.
Both the half-marathon and 10K have USATF certified out-and-back courses that start on paved road, transition through crushed-gravel and the hard-packed bridle trails of Umstead State Park, and finish on pavement. Both the 13.1 and 10K courses officially close at 10:30 a.m.
