Get ready for an exciting day of athleticism and fun at the North Shore Youth Triathlon (NSYT) on Sunday, August 17, 2025, held at the Evanston Township High School in Evanston, Cook. This inspiring event invites youth aged 5 to 14 to challenge themselves in a supportive environment, encouraging fitness and personal achievement. Participants can look forward to a thrilling race experience featuring a pool swim, a safe, traffic-free bike course, and a run on the beautiful ETHS grounds.
The NSYT offers tailored race distances for different age groups: young athletes aged 11-14 will swim 200 yards, bike 5 miles, and run 1.2 miles; those aged 7-10 will swim 100 yards, bike 2.5 miles, and run 0.7 miles; and for the youngest participants aged 5-6, a splash & dash format allows for a flexible swim based on individual skill and comfort, followed by a 0.5-mile run. The NSYT is hosted by the not-for-profit Evanston-based OWLS (Open Water Lake Swimmers), and draws on ten+ years of experience inspiring youth through triathlon.
This year, the NSYT will return to Evanston Township High School. This includes a pool swim, closed to traffic bike course, and run on ETHS grounds.
Event Distances:
11-14 year old: Swim 200 yards, Bike 5 miles, Run 1.2 miles
