Get ready for an exciting day of athleticism and fun at the North Shore Youth Triathlon, taking place on Sunday, August 17th, 2025, at Evanston Township High School in Evanston, Cook. This vibrant event invites young athletes aged 5 to 14 to challenge themselves in a supportive and encouraging environment, promoting fitness and personal achievement. Participants will navigate a thrilling triathlon course featuring a pool swim, a safe, closed-to-traffic bike route, and a run on the school's grounds.
Racers will compete in various age categories with tailored distances: the 11-14 year olds will swim 200 yards, bike 5 miles, and run 1.2 miles; the 7-10 year olds will swim 100 yards, bike 2.5 miles, and run 0.7 miles; and the youngest participants, aged 5-6, will enjoy a splash and dash with a flexible swim based on skill and comfort, followed by a 0.5-mile run. We invite youth between the ages of 5 and 14 to join us at the North Shore Youth Triathlon (NSYT). The NSYT challenges youth to develop fitness and achieve their personal best while having fun!
The NSYT is hosted by the not-for-profit Evanston-based OWLS (Open Water Lake Swimmers), and draws on ten+ years of experience inspiring youth through triathlon.
This year, the NSYT will return to Evanston Township High School. This includes a pool swim, closed to traffic bike course, and run on ETHS grounds.
Event Distances:
11-14 year old: Swim 200 yards, Bike 5 miles, Run 1.2 miles
7-10 year old: swim 100 yard, Bike 2.5 miles, Run 0.7 miles
5-6 year old splash & dash: swim flexible based on skill and comfort level, Run 0.5 mile
