Get ready for an incredible outdoor experience at the 29th annual Northern Center and Earthjustice Run for the Refuge! Taking place from August 21 to August 24, 2025, in Fairbanks, Fairbanks North Star, this exciting event celebrates the beauty and importance of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Participants can join virtually and choose their own adventure with a suggested distance of 5k (three miles), but any distance you cover will show your support for this vital ecosystem.
Registration is free, and anyone who donates, no matter the amount, will be entered into a door prize drawing! Gather your friends, hit the trails, hop on your bike, or paddle your kayak as you embrace the great outdoors. Share your journey using #RunForTheRefuge and connect with fellow participants on our Facebook Event Page to inspire each other. Plus, everyone will receive a printable bib, and you can also order a special Run for the Refuge T-shirt designed by our 2025 Featured Artist, Tehya McLeod. Join the Northern Alaska Environmental Center virtually August 21-24 to celebrate the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge during the 29th annual Run for the Refuge, sponsored this year by Earthjustice. Registration for this year's event is free and anyone who makes a donation (of any amount) will be automatically entered into a door prize drawing.
There are so many wonderful ways to be outdoors, and we hope youll get inspired to hit the trail, hop on your bike, launch your kayak, or set off on your favorite people-powered adventure. Suggested distance is 5k (three miles), but any distance shows your support of the Arctic Refuge.
To make the biggest impact, wed love your help spreading the word far and wide. Get a group of friends together and sign up early! Then join our Facebook Event Page to discuss routes and get inspired. All participants will receive a printable bib, and we hope youll share your adventures with #RunForTheRefuge, tagging @NorthernCenter on social media.
