The 36th Annual Philadelphia Catholic League Open/Alumni Cross Country Championship will be held on Saturday, October 19 , at the usual place, Belmont Plateau Park, in Philadelphia. The race is OPEN to all age groups and even though many of the runners are alumni from the Philadelphia Catholic League, anyone can register and run the challenging 5,000 meter cross country course. The race start is 12:30 pm and is the first race of the day. The Philadelphia Catholic League (Boys and Girls) Cross Country races follow with Freshmen, JV and Varsity Championships contested. The first Philadelphia Catholic League Championship was held in the early 1940s and the 75 year old tradition continues. We encourage all to sign up online but we invite race day walk up registration starting at 11am and continuing until race time. Awards to the Top 10 (men) and Top 10 (women) and Top 5 (50 and above for both Men and Women). $100 dollar bonus to Men/Women who break meet record (John Butler/15:23) and 17:16 (Rene Gunning). Team Award to the Champion Phila Catholic League Alumni team (men and women). T shirts to all who pre-register and while they last on race day. . Free parking, refreshments at Belmont Plateau Park. Race registration is $25 pre registered (T shirt to all pre registered and while supply last for post registrants) and $25 for sign up on race day. Race proceeds support the purchasing of the Championship Awards for the Philadelphia Catholic League, as well as support the missions of the Belmont Plateau Cross Country Hall of Fame (www.belmontplateaucchof.com) Race is rain or shine.
