Join us for the exciting "Race for the Grasshopper 5K" on Saturday, January 9, 2027, in Gaffney, Cherokee! This vibrant event commemorates a historic moment from the Battle of Cowpens in 1781, where two American officers raced to secure a British cannon, known as the Grasshopper. Runners and spectators alike will enjoy a scenic single loop course along the paved roads of Cowpens Battlefield, starting at 8:30 AM.
Participants can pick up their bib numbers and shirts on race day from 7:00 AM to 8:15 AM or opt for early packet pickup on Friday, January 8th, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Gotta Run Spartanburg. With awards for the top three overall finishers as well as age group awards spanning from 14 & under to 75 & over, there’s plenty of incentive to lace up those running shoes! Don’t miss out on this fun-filled event that combines history, fitness, and community spirit!
