Well organized, smallish race with many distance options. Very family friendly--lots and lots of runners with strollers and a ton of kids were running the 5k--and the starting line and final 300m or so being on the college track around the football field was pretty cool. There were two water stations, which is nice because it was already muggy and sticky at 8am (the 10k had 3 water stations). I loved the design of the medals and the shirt.
I took off half a star because the distance, at least for the 5k, is not exact; the course was about 50m longer than my Garmin measured the run. The course map does include the caveat that the race distances are not certified, so this isn't unexpected, however, it was a bit disappointing.
All that said, if you live in South/East Central Illinois, and Charleston is an easy drive for you, this is a fun race that the whole family can enjoy, while still having some solid competition at the top levels. Definitely check it out!
