Join us for an exhilarating experience at the RTC EF Coached Open Water Swim on Monday, July 7, 2025, in beautiful Midlothian, Chesterfield! This members-only event promises a fantastic opportunity for swimmers of all levels to dive into the refreshing waters of Robious Landing. Our open water swims are held seasonally on Mondays and Wednesdays, weather permitting, and kick off at 6:05 PM, following a crucial safety briefing at 5:45 PM.
Participants are required to wear bright swim caps and utilize swim buoys for safety, with options available to borrow if needed. Whether you’re a seasoned swimmer or new to the open water scene, you can request a swim angel for added support. Don’t forget to bring your towel, goggles, and a bathing suit! This is a perfect chance to connect with fellow swimming enthusiasts while enjoying the great outdoors. Be sure to register by 3 PM on the day of the swim, and remember, all participants must be at least 18 years old. WELCOME TO RTC'S OPEN WATER SWIM REGISTRATION
Open water swims are hosted seasonally on Mondays and Wednesdays, weather and river permitting, at Robious Landing. Registration is open until 3pm the day of the swim.
** Please select the final COMPLETE REGISTRATION to submit your registration and receive a confirmation email. We need to have an accurate head count for our water safety crew. Similarly, if you are unable to attend after registering, we ask that you cancel your registration before 3pm by asking for a refund.
1. Please arrive by 5:45 to hear the safety briefing, sign in, and get yourself ready to go. All swimmers take off at 6:05 pm from the dock. Late arrivals may swim at their own risk without signing in.
2. Swim buoys and bright swim caps are required. We have a limited number of swim buoys and caps available to borrow if necessary. No Buoy = No Swim! Other items to bring are a towel, goggles, sandals, bathing suit and sometimes a wetsuit.
3. New open water swimmers may request a swim angel. The swim angel will swim with you and keep an eye on you. See role description for more information.
4. After swimming, please SIGN OUT. The Swim Lead will call the emergency contact if the swimmer does not sign out.
5. Please consider giving back to our program by volunteering at least monthly either by signing up to kayak, SUP, or as a swim angel! We also have a volunteer reward program called RTC TRISTARS. Read more about it here: RTC TRISTARS.
6. All swimmers and volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. We allow non-members to swim with us twice before membership becomes required. You don't have to be a member to volunteer for water support, but membership is encouraged! If you have not signed up online you are required to sign a waiver on paper at the river.
