This year, participants can choose between two exhilarating distances: a 6-mile or a 12-mile loop around the stunning Upper Caney Lake, nestled within the scenic KISATCHIE NATIONAL FOREST. The course offers a delightful blend of gentle hills and oak flats, making it an inviting experience for both seasoned runners and first-timers alike.
Join fellow running enthusiasts in this "Old School Style" trail run, where you'll enjoy the beauty of nature while pushing your limits. Each participant will receive a long sleeve shirt and have the chance to enjoy light snacks at the finish line. Don’t forget to carpool to minimize the $5 parking fee, and if you camp at the Beaver Dam Campsite the night before, you can skip the fee altogether! With awards for overall winners and age group champions, along with a running clock at the finish, Run Caney promises to be a fantastic day of competition and camaraderie. Organiser's Description
Run Caney is back again! This will be a 6 mile and 12 mile loop run around beautiful Upper Caney lake near Minden, Louisiana. The run, set in the slight hills and oak flats of the KISATCHIE NATIONAL FOREST; is a beautiful spot to enjoy nature at its finest. It's not too hilly, not too rocky, and not too root-laden. It's just right! Goldilocks would love it! This is an "Old School Style" trail run. It's a perfect first timers race! The 5k course is a portion of the 10k loop and some other trails.
There will be a RUN CANEY shirt this year...not a GOATS shirt.
_Runners are expected to pay $5 at the park for entry, per car. I SUGGEST CAR-POOLING! Folks who camp at the Beaver Dam Campsite the night prior are immune to park entry fees due to their campground registration._
THERE WILL BE A RUNNING CLOCK AT THE FINISH. Racers will be handed a numbered index card as they finish. The runner will then write their name and time on the card. Results will be posted ONLY on the Run Caney Facebook page. Race results may be posted to runsignup; I'm going to try their mobile timing app. RUNNERS WILL RECEIVE A LONG SLEEVE shirt and there will be light snacks available at the finish line. Overall male and female winner in each race will get an award of some type. Age group winner will receive a home-made ornament of some type. Also, there is a $5 parking fee for the park....so carpool if you can. _There is a hard cut on the shirts of November 29th!!! I will order some extras but if you want a guaranteed shirt.....order before the 29th._
_THERE IS A SHIRT ONLY OPTION. IF YOU CHOOSE THIS....YOUR SHIRT MUST BE PICKED UP AT THE RUN WILD STORE DURING PACKET PICKUP. I'M NOT HOLDING YOUR SHIRT FOR YOU AND MEETING YOU SOMEWHERE. IN THE PAST, IF WE'VE KEPT IT AT THE STORE AFTER PPU; IT WOULD BE MONTHS BEFORE THE RECEPIENT WENT TO CLAIM IT....WE'RE NOT DOING THAT. _
