About the Fundraiser
Welcome to the inaugural "Run For Resiliency" 5K race! This special event is organized to support the Afghan Special Operations Community, a key ally to the U.S. Military in our decades long war in Afghanistan, as they rebuild their lives in the United States. By participating in this race, you are helping to bridge the gaps in the system and anticipate the long-term needs of these brave Afghan men and women. Your support will enable Afghan Special Operations Veterans, along with their families, to build resilience and fully integrate into their American communities so they can ultimately achieve their American Dream. Join us in making a tangible difference in the lives of those who served alongside the U.S. military in the Global War on Terror.
About Honor the Promise Organization
Honor the Promise is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to assist the members of Afghan National Army Special Operation Forces who were evacuated to the U.S.
About the 5K Race
The "Run for Resiliency" 5K race is more than just a run; it's a statement of solidarity and support for the Afghan Special Operations Community. This event welcomes runners, walkers, and supporters of all ages and fitness levels. Whether you are a seasoned runner or new to the 5K scene, your participation will contribute to the vital work of Honor the Promise.
As you race through the scenic course, you'll not only be challenging yourself but also standing in support of Afghan Special Operations Veterans, helping them build resilience and successfully integrate into American society. Together, we can ensure they feel a sense of belonging and pride in their new home. Join us for a day of community, camaraderie, and commitment to a cause that truly makes a difference.
Event Details:
Location: Fort Hunt Park 8999 Fort Hunt Road Alexandra, Virginia 22308We will be gathering at Picnic Area B-001 which offers ample parking in a paved lot. Take the exit for Fort Hunt Park and follow the signs to the park and our specific picnic area.
Race Day Schedule:
Check-In: 7:30 AM - 8:00 AM
Welcome Ceremony & Pre-Brief - 8:00 AM
Race Start - 8:15 AM
Race Ends - 9:30 AM
Awards and Announcement - 10:00 AM
