Join us for the inspiring "Run to End Veteran Suicide 5K" on Sunday, November 12, 2023, in Chaplin, Northeastern Connecticut. This uplifting event aims to raise awareness and support for our veterans, many of whom face significant challenges upon returning home. Registration opens at 9:00 AM, with the race kicking off at 10:00 AM. Participants can contribute to two important causes while enjoying a fantastic day of community spirit and camaraderie.
By registering for the race, you can also participate in a unique opportunity to support Veterans Base Camp’s initiatives. If you’re rucking and collecting items for their BackPacks For Life program or the Vittles 4 Vets Food Pantry, you can deduct $10 from your entry fee! Help fill military-grade backpacks with essential survival items for homeless veterans or donate non-perishable food items to ensure our veterans have a warm holiday season. For several years, Veterans Base Camp has been providing a safe haven for veterans either returning from deployment or going through a life transition, whether that be homelessness, joblessness, or relationship issues.
If you are rucking and collecting items for either of the two causes below, please deduct $10.00 from your entry fee!
Veterans Base Camp has two different programs we are collecting for during the Ruck:
BackPacks For Life-an organization that fills the backpacks with survival items and gives military grade backpacks to homeless
veterans. The backpack is something every veteran identifies with. VBC is asking for donations to fill the backpacks. The list is below.
And/Or Vittles 4 Vets Food Pantry-we are collecting non-perishable holiday food items for our Pantry to give out at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Ie. stuffing mixes, cranberry sauce, pie fillings, boxed cookie/bread mixes.
Veterans Base Camp, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, welcomes volunteers and donations to help support our programs. As a public charity, we can provide you with a receipt for tax deductible contributions. Further information on 501(c)(3) organizations may be found on the IRS.gov website.
